There is land set aside for housing, but administration wants to reach their one academic status first. Then the social and athletic aspects of the school can be focused on. At least that's my understanding, UTD is a "nerdy" school. Don't count on housing for at least another decade.

UTD's "nerdy" reputation has always seemed weird to me for a school with an academic status currently on par with Tech and Ole Miss. That's not to say anything bad about the school, because for a satellite university that's only been around for 50-some-odd years that's pretty great. Still, it's interesting how much different a student body it attracts relative to similarly ranked universities.
