Pros: KKG is huge nationally. They have a strong network of Alumnae and are very well known across the US. You will also get to be part of the founding class which is a cool experience.
Cons: As with any new chapter on campus, there will be growing pains. Establishing yourself will take time. Recruitment for the colony will be done by the NHQ, so the personalities of your class may be all over the board. You’ll be learning as you go. I don’t think there are plans for a house (yet) and that may be a hinderance.
I’m already a member of a chapter which I love 😉, but had I had the opportunity to be a part of a founding class I may have just gone for it. Also, for me personally, I like the idea of a strong alumnae network. There are a few chapters on campus that happen to be popular here at ISU, but once you leave the campus no one has heard of them and have few Alumnae chapters. Likewise to some of the lesser popular ISU chapters; they may not be popular here, but they are huge nationally.
At the end of the day find yourself a group that you have things in common with and that you feel at home. Good luck!!!
