If you pigeon hole yourself into a corner by ranking the houses based on what your perception is of one house you will only accept as your match, you can cut your opportunities elsewhere at an equally great house. Be the same sweet, intelligent and put together girl at all houses equally. If you go in with a legacy (which does not give you an automatic bid) you need accolades to support your legacy to give the impression of this girl that not only carries XYZ tradition in her family but brings leadership qualities that can carry XYZ to new heights. Even with a legacy, going "XYZ only, XYZ only, XYZ only" minimizes your potential for a successful rush.
