Probably the best Greek Life in the midwest. Very few universities have a consolidated frat row like ours, or have mega mansions for just about every housed org. IU owes a lot to its greek traditions going all the way back to the 1800s. Honestly, frats/srats are probably one of the major reasons why IU is loved for its traditional college vibe. Being a part of a house is extremely exciting, especially when Little 500 rolls around the corner. The culture is extremely judgmental and toxic. You have to have a good self esteem to survive. Individuals are routinely picked out and harassed, there is a good deal of drama between houses (which occasionally gets violent). Rush can be extremely competitive and the process can leave a lot of people feeling inadequate if they do not get a bid. There is a huge divide between the greeks and geeds, totally different college cultures, and there are a lot of geeds who hate greeks because they didn't get bids. Overall AMAZING greek life. Definitely consider rushing!
