Texas Tech has always been one of the premier Greek schools in Texas right up there as a part of the big 3 with SMU and UT. The premier big frats are large, high membership, huge pledge classes, and the social scene is some of the best in the country. For tech Greek the weekend starts on Thursday and it’s no brakes. Surprisingly good culture, party scene is fairly safe compared to other Greek oriented schools of the same size. And now to the negatives, Greek has progressively gotten smaller and smaller over the years as more and more hazing incidents and more regulations start to pile up. The active Greek community is still probably around 30-40% of the entire student population, but classes get smaller and smaller every year. Recruitment is difficult, the big rush for Tech is fall rush, and it is about a full 24/7 week long process and can be extremely selective. Even more so for Sororities. Overall I’d say when I rushed in 2014 it was the best decision I ever made in college.
