I think roughly 20% of students at UT are Greek, which makes it a fairly large presence. The Greek houses aren't great compared to some other SEC schools but are much better than your average small colleges. (Sorority village definetly has nicer/newer houses than Fraternity park which is very old) While UT on the record is a dry campus, most fraternities will additionally have houses in the nearby fort sanders in order to have house parties without having to risk getting in trouble. (although many frats still have parties at their houses on frat row) Both sororities and fraternities typically will rent out bars or clubs in Knoxville or the strip to have date parties, mixers, formats, and swaps. (All in all, UT is your average large state school that likes to party) Greeks are involved on campus but not as involved as some schools where it dictates the University (such as an Ole Miss or Alabama) For Attractiveness, the Greeks are hot. Plain and simple. Slightly more females than males in Greek life. They've really cracked down on hazing lately, and it seems like a new fraternity is in trouble ever other month. Hazing is still prevalent, but it's pretty average and it is declining somewhat. Lastly, there are many sororities and fraternities here at UT, so many to choose from. Overall, Greek life is definitely a big part of UT, as it is any other major University.
