Auburn is struggling

Message:
As an incoming freshman I was excited for the true fraternity experience. I thought that we could host parties whenever we felt like it and the chapter could buy drinks and serve them out in the open. I thought that we could invite as many people as we wanted to and truly resemble what a social fraternity is supposed to be. However, all of these assumptions about greek life in Auburn are false. Student affairs has launched a full scale attack on greek life at Auburn and it seems as if they want to completely wipe out the system. A fraternity here can only host eleven parties per semester which is less than one per week. At many other schools, frats party 2-3 times per week and the school doesn't care unless there is a problem. Additionally, the way alcohol is served at party is weird because it's either byo or you have to hire a bartending service to sell drinks. Because we are unable to use chapter funds to buy drinks and throw a minimal amount parties, you will end up spending a ton of money between going downtown and buying alcohol on your own. Also, if you your not in the "top" 3-4 sororities and fraternities, people will look down upon you without even getting a chance to know you. Honestly, there is not top tier frat or sorority because the whole system is messed up and it doesn't matter what you join because greek life is so afraid of student affairs that no one is willing to take a risk to improve their chapter. If you want to be part of a true fraternity I would go somewhere else in the SEC because Auburn greek life is like being under house arrest, ya your in frat but you can't really do anything.
