It turns off most girls and turns on only a select few, so they assume they're doing everything right. They assume incorrectly. Hypothetical quote from their rush chair: "Can he breathe?" Yes. "Can he chug a lil creatine and look as fratty as me?" Yes. "Well throw a pink tank top on him and send him to the gym. He needs work."
