Comment:  Beta's social experience is very limited without they having a house. Yes, technically they have a "chapter house," but it barely houses any significant percentage of the chapter. This also takes away from their brotherhood aspect. Of course everyone has heard of two betas being in the same class and not knowing each other, but it is true that they have the biggest divisions, or cliques, in their fraternity which really divides them up into many groups, instead of one big fraternity.
