Comment:  DG was closed through no fault of the chapter. In the early 1930s, Ole Miss was in a shambles as a university -- the crooked governor at the time ran it into the ground by firing the faculty and staff and replacing them with his cronies. As a result, Ole Miss lost its accreditation. DG nationals thought it would look bad to have a chapter at an unaccredited school, so they closed the chapter in 1931 and reopened it in 1938, when things got back to normal. They built their house that same year.
