Comment:  Ellis just described UCLA circa 1999. So yes, a bit has changed, actually: Alpha Phi has been at the top for the past 4-5 years. AEPhi went from being selective (but better than KD) to tiny and by far the worst house on campus, until they closed this year. Tri Delt took a nosedive about 5 years ago. KD and Gamma Phi have moved up. Kappa had a rough couple of years (didn't make quota, etc.), but are back on top. And... Pi Phi has moved downward slowly over the past 5 years. They still have some hotties who know how to party, but they seem to have sacrificed personality and retention for it.
