Comment: Attended UCSD a while back and was a member of EX (before the allegations surfaced). As an alum, it's pretty awful to hear what those individuals did to those girls not gonna lie. Im sorry to the victims, that should have never happened. It reflects poorly on all of us and completely negates the many years of great philanthropic work and great recruiting Sigma Chi did at UCSD. Can't speak for the current state of things but during my time at UCSD, Sigma Chi had an outstanding reputation and had a positive impact on campus. Brotherhood was strong, members were approachable and welcomed all Greek and non-Greek affiliated students. We were proud to wear the letters. We organized large scale philanthropic events, and good social events as well. Of course there were the bad seeds at that time too, but if we're gonna open up the court of public opinion - what fraternity doesn't have members that "slip through the cracks" so to speak. I can't say enough about how meticulous recruitment screening was to make sure guys like that didn't get bids. It's extremely unfortunate the process failed them at some point down the line and it reflects poorly on not only the active members but alums as well. I know they're gonna do everything possible to make sure something like this never happens again, justice is one of the core tenets EX was founded on. As an alum, I'd like to see the few guys that were involved in those incidents take accountability, but I also hope people understand the actions of a few bad seeds shouldn't personify the fraternity as a whole, and their actions certainly don't transcend time.
