University: University of South Carolina Columbia - USCGreek Organization: Phi Mu
Author: Hi
Comment: ok super honest ranking: phi mu is one of the most academic focused sororities on campus. major gpa cuts during recruitment and has one of the highest minimum gpas you have to maintain as an active. lots of social events. phi mu has the most functions out of every chapter on campus. this is just a fact. at least one function a month and they had semi & formal both semesters last year. heavy campus involvement- idk what it is but phi mus are really involved in other campus orgs (panhell, dance marathon, professional fraternities, relay for life, etc). lots of girls in exec & leadership positions, lots of phi mus definitely try to get involved in campus and don’t just sit still Middle tier- however, there is no arguing that phi mu is anything but middle tier based on the inconsistencies in their pledge classes & a small group of girls trying to push the narrative that they’re top. It just looks worse on them the more this continues and they actually would have the potential to climb if they stopped trying to convince everyone they aren’t mid there is literally every type of girl in this sorority- Now I can think of reasons why this would be good & bad. Good- you know there is someone like you in this chapter. Guaranteed u can find a group of friends. But bad- decent amount of girls that u simply just dont relate to and wouldn’t like. Harder to find your group bc you don’t click with every girl in this chapter Favoritism- last but not least: there is major favoritism in this sorority depending on who your friends are & if you’re friends with exec. Definitely huge discrepancies in who’s behavior is excused and how people are treated. All members are most certainly not treated equally or fairly. This is definitely one of the worst parts of phi mu and hopefully something they will finally recognize and address
