Comment:  I have heard of so many girls dropping DZ. Their original pledge class apparently took anyone and everyone, and several girls used being “founding members” as nothing more than resume boosters. That being said, they’re still pretty diverse and accepting years after they came to campus, and I will give them credit for that. I don’t hear much about them anymore, in all honesty. When I went through recruitment, most of the girls in my gamma chi group didn’t feel like they clicked with DZ. I will also say that I did my homework on sororities before going through recruitment, and DZ’s nationals has done some pretty awful things, such as kicking out members at certain chapters and only leaving very pretty girls behind. Because of this, I doubt that the diversity and acceptance will last for long, and they will probably become another stereotypical white/blonde/snotty/skinny/rich girl sorority 5-10 years from now. I heard from my little sister’s (biological sis, I didn’t end up pledging a sorority) friend who was a founding member and dropped, that the girls who stayed in DZ stayed either because of what the sorority stands for or because they wanted leadership positions and a resume boost. I interpret this two ways: they either take their sorority’s values seriously, or they take their future seriously. I don’t believe you should use a sorority as a resume boost because there are several academic Greek (or non-Greek) organizations that will do better things for you - that’s what I ended up doing and it was the best time and money I spent at WKU. All in all, I don’t have much to say about DZ except for the fact that no one seems to know which direction they’re going in.
