Comment:  I am a current DePauw Alpha Chi sister and I want to give the following testimony of how much my sisters mean to me. I came to DePauw as the oldest Sibling with no Greeks in my family. I was completely new to both the school and the Greek system. I went through recruitment but felt so alone. I was especially depressed because I had been dumped by my high school boyfriend shortly before I matriculated because he had found a different girl who was much richer than me and who could give him the lifestyle he wanted if they married. I was happily surprised when I received a bid from Alpha Chi. I was very surprised as I thought that my rounds with them during rush were pleasant but that I didn't necessarily stand out from many other girls. My life changed when I ran home to the Alpha Chi house. I felt really at home since I am not from Indiana and really missed my family. I relished gaining so many new sisters, which was very important to me since I grew up in a house full of boys and was the only girl. The sisters have been so nice to me. The pledge and initiation rituals were so meaningful to me, particularly the story of the Red Carnation. (Sorry I cant tell you what it means as I swore a vow of secrecy.) I hope that this testimony helps you decide if you want to pledge Alpha Chi.
