Comment: I was a DG and I remember during recruitment I was so impressed with DG that I didn't give any other sororities much thought or energy. It was DG or nothing in my mind. That was a mistake I would come to regret for the rest of my time at Loyola. DG puts on a good show, but it is a carefully constructed FACADE. An attractive facade to any young girl starting college. My experience proved quite differently - about half of these girls are the "faces" of DG. The one's you see at SGA, or sitting in the quad, being involved, etc and not only could they not be more boring, they aren't good sisters. They care about their image, their designer purses, and graduating college with a proposal and DG on their resume. They aren't supportive of their other sisters, they could care less, and that never sat right with me. The remainder of the chapter is made up of people who are extremely good looking in order to keep up appearances so they can continue to be the "hot" ones on campus. And so many of them had zero personality, were falling behind in academics, and not involved at all. Quite the contrast! I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, but I liked to go out! I wanted to experience NOLA! So many of the DGs spend all their time off campus, with their boyfriends, and don't care to put in any effort to connect with their sisters. I never partied, lived with, or hung out with DGs. Every mandatory event I had to go to was miserable. They care more about their standing with nationals and winning awards then they do about making good friendships, supporting one another, taking the time to get to know one another, and making friendships that are life lasting. I have many friends I still keep in touch with and visit from college, not one of them is a DG. If you care about what people think about you and putting this on your resume more than making lasting friendships, laughing your ass off with your sisters, feeling true support and sisterhood than DG is the sorority for you! Otherwise, I would try to remember that they put on a great SHOW, but don't forget to give the other sororities a chance.
