D9/NPHC organization. My dad's an Alpha, this is really the most prestigious black fraternity and Alphas are the oldest black fraternity in the world, founded in 1906 at Cornell University. At that time, the fraternities you are familiar with and that we are not, wouldn't pledge blacks. Their colors are Black and Old Gold. They are very upper crust, often from fine old black monied families, and extremely successful. Famous members you might know include GA Senator Raphael Warnock, ATL Mayor Maynard Jackson, Fletcher Henderson, Thurgood Marshall, Paul Robeson, Duke Ellington, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Coach Eddie Robinson, Jesse Owens, Lionel Richie, John Hope Franklin, Dr. Cornel West, Omari Hardwick (pledged at your school), Gene Upshaw, Countee Cullen...the list goes on and on and on.
