Thank you! A very accurate post, although here's a more accurate history about AGD. I am an AGD from the 80's. Our house was historically Top Tier with sisters who were not only Miss America and Miss Minnesota sisters, they had brains and went on to become lawyers, architects, authors, publishers, actors, doctors etc. They were (and are) an empowered group of women. AGD sisters were/are very popular in the healthiest sense because, though there were many outwardly beautiful women, they welcomed women that weren't stereotypic sorority types and have always valued authenticity. Some may read this and say, hey that was the 80's, but we're proud of our groundwork and those who carved a path before us. And yes, Alpha Gams were (and are) socially involved, academically astute, and philanthropic, and not defined by fraternity impressions (though fraternity houses always found us friendly, smart and fun). Did we have wealthy sisters? Yes, but wealth never defined their relationships. We also had sisters from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. What mattered (and still matters) is community, drive and authenticity. You go, girls!
