Had to take a visit, and see the place underground. It is not easy to find. You have to go around all the no trespassing signs. You have to go down three different ladders, and cover great distances, you have to avoid rats, and the stench of sewage is unbelievable. But I found it, it does take about four hours, because you are descending for three levels. Frightening is the only word I can think of, the place is simply frightening. I didn't realize that New Madison had been built on top of old Madison about 100 years ago. I didn't realize that building that old had electricity, and this broken down building still does. I didn't realize that Madison had such an extensive network of steam tunnels underground, they go for miles and they stretch in every direction. The building itself was broken, leaning, smelly, poorly lit, and spooky. I felt like we were in the great pumpkin patch, waiting for the great pumpkin to appear, this is not the place to be on Halloween, I just had the feeling that people had died down there, I didn't want to be one of them. Even leaving was hard, it took me an hour just to get back to the surface. Super scary.
