Sometimes understanding the long, strong and diverse history of greek life on NIU's campus leads to wise and kind interfraternal feelings. The current home of the NIU Alpha Phi chapter was built in 1990 for the Phi Sigma chapter of NPC's Delta Phi Epsilon (DPhiE) sorority, and immediately dedicated posthumously to DPhiE alum/Phi Sigma chapter adviser Jan Mays. This was after DPhiE had lost their 1982-1991 rental home at 918 Kimberly to the return of NPC's Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. DPhiE left NIU in 1998, and their large Annie Glidden Road home became rental apartments for many years until APhi purchased, renovated and utilized it as their own. Ironically, Alpha Phi's first huge home in the early 1970's was purchased from Alpha Omicron Pi and served APhi well for decades. Good luck and best wishes to the Epsilon Delta chapter of Alpha Phi in their 'new' chapter home!
