You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Number one, they owed $2500, still behind, but not $40k. Number two, they were essentially being extorted the rent was so high: they had to each pay rent for a room in the house and then pay rent on the common areas in the house. The owner bought the house with the intention of owning it while his kids were at Clemson, who were kappa sigs, and then selling it years later for a huge financial gain.
