Sororities make a huge effort to impress PNMs during recruitment, which includes hair, makeup and attire. It's not so much about physical attractiveness as it is looking like you wanted to impress them back by making an effort with your appearance too. If this actually happened (which I doubt), maybe they could tell you didn't put the effort in.
