And: As far as a 17 or 18 year old high school grad girl goes, they're so impressed with the whole rush thing, joining the new pledge class and the sisterhood nonsense, that they don't realize the sisterhood sees them now as "marks" and "rubes." Even if they make the cut, they still will have to be able to cough up the dues. Scholarships don't include dues you see. This technique is very similar to the way a used car salesman sizes up a potential victim. Errr, I mean customer.
