I will answer without (I hope) starting any drama. First of all my older sister was a member of an MSU sorority from 2008-2012. This information is what I was told by her. Years ago, say early 2000's there were few Greeks on the MSU Homecoming Court. In order to have some representation on the court the sororities began to work together and nominated girls "together". In the fall of 2008, DG decided to do their own thing and nominate one DG for each maid and Queen. (At some point just prior to this the DGs at State and Ole Miss attended a presentation on "marketing" their name. I know this because I had a DG cousin at Ole Miss. They were taught how to run successful elections on a large campus among other things.). DG was fairly successful that first fall and decided to continue the process each year since. In 2009 the other sororities, after seeing DG's success began to run their own individual members for each maid and Queen. When this happened it allowed DG to completely dominate the elections and they had 4 maids and a Queen for 3 years in a row - 2009, 2010, and 2011. After these 3 years the other sororities decided it was more productive for them to work together as they had before 2009 on Homecoming elections. So in 2011 everyone except DG began working as a group during Homecoming elections. The money each sorority would normally use for campaign materials was instead donated to a different charity each year.
