Variable quota is used when there is a large gap between one (or more houses) than all the others in terms of the number of members they have. It forces houses with a larger number of members (chi o, delta gamma, kappa delta) to make deeper cuts early on so more PMNs can go back to see other houses (alpha chi, pi beta phi, and zeta tau alpha) during more rounds. The ones with lower retention rates (pi beta phi and zeta tau alpha) and the newer house (alpha chi omega) benefit from not being able to cut PNMs the first few rounds in hopes that the PNMs will meet more girls in their house each round. More contact gives more opportunity to fall in love with them. Variable quota can be a great thing for some of the houses. If you are a PNM without deep connections in a few houses, variable quota will be your friend by keeping houses on your list each round. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!!!! Go in with an open mind and try to connect with the girls you meet. There are wonderful girls in each and every house. You will find your home if you go in with an open heart.
