Doubtful you would have gotten dg. Girls need two alumna to back them in order to receive a bid. Dg is completely alums driven which is why many end up hating it there. Actives have very little say in who gets a bid. It's very common for girls in a mid house to have preffed one top and one mid. It's more rare for a girl to pref two top houses. Now those girls HAVE connections!
