I only knew a couple of sisters beforehand, and am also on the shy side and was worried that I'd have trouble having good conversations with people I didn't know during recruitment, so I literally came up with a list of things I like talking about beforehand I could think back to if I freaked out. I'm sure I wasn't the most engaging person going through, but I felt like I always had something to talk about and I'm very happy where I ended up. Do your best, try and meet people at orientation if you can, but so long as you have recs, and get to know the sisters you talk to during recruitment you will end up somewhere. Prepare, manage expectations, and enjoy the women you meet and the houses who invite you back!
