There are New Member meetings one night each week that might last 2.5 hours (usually less). Most chapters also have a set number of study hall hours each week (some at the house/some at a place of your choice). That's about it each week. More time is required during philanthropic events but that is only once a semester. Most chapters have a New Member retreat but I don't think anyone requires attendance at it, although it is highly encouraged and recommended. Basically a pledgeship can require as much or as little time as you are willing/able to give. A sorority means nothing without building bonds of friendship with other members which is only possible by spending time with the group.
