I am not condoning this sort of talk but I have seen MANY times where KD has bemoaned another sorority for even the slightest words spoken as defense to an outlandish accusation. Words like "dear _____, why defend yourself every time someone even brings up your name." Or "Hey ______, its better to say nothing. A classier sorority would ignore negative remarks." If a woman is truly into this "woman empowerment," you should never correct a co-ed for defending itself. So if it's good for you, KD, it's good for phi mu, DG, zeta, or any other group.
