The problem isn't the praying itself per se. It's that having a group prayer as part of a meeting for a group that really has nothing to do with religion sort of shows a bias toward one religion. It would be the same way if they did just a Muslim prayer or just a Buddhist prayer etc. it's just not fair to people with different beliefs to play favorites with religion just because the school is majority Christian. I feel like it'd be totally different if it was specifically a Christian group or if this was a Christian college (then it would actually be dumb to ban the prayer). But since you can't just have like 100 separate prayers for every single religion it's just fairer to not pray at all (bc it seems like you're playing favorites)
