I'll answer - No one knows "for sure" until the list of new members are given to the sorority. We get the lists around the same time the PNM get their bid card. The only way a mom would know "for sure" is if their daughter is a legacy, goes to her legacy house for pref and lists them first. In this case they are assured a bid (at least in every sorority I know). Other than this there is no way to know "for sure". Yes chapter members who are communicating with mom, right or wrong it happens, will tell you what they "think" but this can go horribly wrong! Moms need to listen to their daughters during recruitment not guide them. The house they chooses will be their home for 4 years. PNMs need to be the one who is happy not the mom.
