I was in the same boat at one time although my gpa was a 3.45 and a 29 ACT, coming from an extremely competitive out of state, high school. It's the fact that I was out of state and slightly shy, finding it difficult to be all bubbly & talkative for a few minutes during rush and not having a legacy house on this campus. I knew nobody and nobody was really willing to get to know me. I waited for COB at the beginning of spring and there were maybe 4 houses that actually gave me a chance. Most houses did not respond to my emails and most houses would only invite their friends or roommates to COB, it's not fair and it seems like most houses are embarrassed they COB but don't be discouraged because you will find a house in the spring. In whichever house it is, you will find all types of girls, don't listen to stereotypes they are not true. In the meantime, you may walk around campus and look at girls around you, not believing some got chosen before you-chances are very good they knew someone from high school or they may have been a legacy. As an out-of-stater, I was truely disappointed with formal rush here but stick with it and focus on your grades, do what you can to get above a 3.5 gpa for fall they will look at fall grades and it will make or break you. Good luck .
