A minor technicality, and something that is EXTREMELY rare. But it is possible for a chapter to invite someone to preference and then leave them off their bid list. Generally, this would require an extreme situation (girl showing up for preference party drunk or stoned would do it), permission from the national headquarters, and discussion with Greek Life. But it can happen. I imagine it happens fewer than 10 times a year in the entire nation. It truly is rare. But it is possible to do something so horribly stupid on preference that you are removed from the bid list for that organization.
