Your friend is incorrect. Maximizing your options is just about what you do after preference. You are not allowed to not maximize your options earlier in the week. It is only after preference that you can refuse to rank a chapter whose preference party you attended. Attend 1 party, list that house on your MRABA, and you will either match them or be a quota addition. Attend 2 parties, list both houses on your MRABA, and you will either match one of them or be a quota addition to one of them. Attend 3 parties, list all three houses on your MRABA, and you will either match one of them or be a quota addition to one of them. Last year there were 37 quota additions across the 15 houses at Mizzou. 37 women who wouldn't have been greek if they hadn't maximized their options. They have no idea they were quota additions, since there is nothing to mark them out as such. But there were 37 according to final reports.
