It does place you at a bit of a disadvantage. All things being equal - a freshman is a more attractive option. They will likely be a member for 4 years, while you will be a member for 3. Be prepared to not only explain your college resume, but also your HS resume. Your freshman year does not explain away any HS shortcomings.
