"Neutral during the war between the states"? Where did YOU learn history? Public school-that's obvious because you took a swipe at all the private school girls. The repeal of the Missouri Compromise was one of the the main reasons for the Civil War, and there were more Civil War battles or engagements fought in Missouri than in any other state besides Virginia and Tennessee. In 1861, the year the war started, 45 percent of all battles and all casualties were in Missouri. More Civil War generals are buried in St. Louis than in Arlington or West Point. Get your facts straight before posting. This IS college, after all. And no, it does not matter where you're from OR if you went to a private high school.
