Having your mom on the board of a sorority will neither help nor hurt your chances with other houses, as they won't know and they wouldn't care regardless. As for the sorority she's on the board of, it might help and give her rec letter for you a little more weight, and it might not- just depends on the sorority and how serious they take alumna input.
