Many women will be thrilled at how things turn out when they get their bid. Some will be OK with it and some women will have their hearts broken tomorrow. Greek life can be great and I have loved my sorority. But for those who have faced disappointment this week, remember it's not the ONLY way to go through college. More women at Mizzou are NOT in sororities than are. Many women make wonderful and lasting friendships with people in the dorm, in their major, in clubs etc. You don't have to be in a sorority to have friends who are Greek or to date guys in fraternities. You might think it is the end of the world if recruitment didn't work out for you, but it's not. Life goes on. College goes on. And by the time most sorority girls are juniors and seniors they are living in apartments just like you will be and will be a little bored with the sorority scene. And certainly most are bored with the bro antics of drunk frat guys who often are not as respectful of women as other guys. So splash some cold water on your face, look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that this is just the first time of many in your college career that you will pick yourself up, regroup and find another path. That's what college is for: learning to adapt and to believe in yourself. This is just Plan B and believe me, if you are like most girls you will be on Plan R or Z by the time you graduate. You gave it a shot and you did your best, so hold your head high and get ready to open a new chapter.
