I'm in the same boat. I had a 3.7, great ACT score, and am excessively friendly and outgoing. I'm no 10, but not a 2 either. I am also a legacy to two great chapters at Mizzou. However, I know nobody here. I had a great recruitment up until today-where I only had two chapters, neither of which I felt passionate about or even really remembered. I had amazing conversations at my legacy houses and absolutely loved them. When I saw that neither of them were on my schedule, I was heartbroken. I truly believe that knowing people DOES help more than anybody cares to admit. I wish people had been more honest about this with me, so that I could have adjusted my expectations accordingly. And I know that people will say "you end up where you're supposed to" and "those weren't the chapters for you," but those comments disregard the feelings that PNMs have for houses. This process is much more one sided than it seems. I do not hate the Greek system, but I wholeheartedly believe that girls without connections are at a huge disadvantage in the recruitment process. It sucks, and it has caused a lot of tears, but it's a reality that needs to stop being oppressed.
