A 3.4 is not that great, first of all. And while she may be pretty, as you look around you can see that pretty girls are a dime a dozen. What many girls don't know is that many houses weed out girls without ever having met them, based on things like class rank, recs, ACT score, honors, elected positions and more. It's the whole package and with so many girls going through, houses can be extremely selective. Plus, it's ability to hold a meaningful conversation, how warm and outgoing you are and whether you click with someone. Finally, it also matters whether you can contribute something to a house. Lots of cheerleaders go through rush, but how does that translate to helping a house the way a beautiful singing voice or ability to play the piano well helps. Lots of girls play soccer, but if you hold a record in an individual sport, that helps more. It's very difficult to figure out just what a house is looking for, but 5's on your AP tests and being No. 1 in your class helps more than just a 3.4,typical activities and a blah personality.
