Although I would care more about getting a quality education than my lifelong friends? This education is expensive so while I would also skip the initiation, if it was a life or death situation as in if you didn't go to initiation you couldn't be in the honors college I would absolutely recommend you go to that initiation. An employer isn't gonna care that you were apart of alpha alpha alpha and drank yourself to sleep at date parties weekend after weekend, but they would love to see an honors graduate. So yeah you'll make some life long friends but never skip an important educational event (I realize this may not be important, just for future reference) for "lifelong friends" that you can make with or without a sorority. You don't need to be Greek to meet friends and just because you are Greek doesn't mean your best friends will be too :)
