Mizzou has had such a strong sorority system for such a long time that it is very difficult for a new chapter to establish itself. So they are always on the outside looking in. Their actual houses (structures) often aren't up to the standards of the more established houses and their alum network is non-existent. Plus some of the nationals just aren't that strong. I think Mizzou can support 15 houses, but they have to be good houses. Plus, nationals like SK, PhiMu and Tri Sig just aren't that good. You can find those chapters on small campuses all around the country and there is no prestige involved in being a member. Sad but true. There is a reason SK failed a couple of times before its current incarnation here and that AGD tried and failed many years ago. DZ and AOPi nationals aren't any better. The best houses are the ones that have been here forever. There's a reason they remain strong. New houses struggle and often don't make it, and that's OK. Survival of the fittest.
