It seems the newer houses and many of the weaker houses on campus are more likely to take legacies because it strengthens their history and heritage. However, if your house has been on this campus almost 100 years (ADPi, Kappa, PiPhi, Theta etc.), legacies are a dime a dozens. Just think of all the grandmothers, mothers, sisters etc. who have been members of those houses and who have female offspring at Mizzou. For that reason the best houses are respectful of legacies, but in the long run it doesn't mean much to be a legacy. Those houses could fill entire pledge classes just with legacies, and no one wants that. It won't hurt you at any other house to be a legacy, and at some houses it might help you -- just not the top houses. And then there are houses that love to steal the best legacies, and we all know who they are.
