As for religious/culty stuff, almost all houses have things that might be considered a bit weird. You have to remember though that these chapters were founded decades ago, some more than one hundred and fifty years. It was a different time and different things were done. What makes greek life so cool is that you do the same ritual they did when the chapter was founded. So yeah, it seems a bit ominous and old fashioned at first, but nothing is dangerous, you know? Nobody is going to do blood sacrifices. There's no swearing your life to the chapter. No blood oaths or anything. It's really nothing to worry about.
