It used to be that all sophs, jr's, sr's lived in the house and a sorority could get by just on the dues of the people who lived in. Now most houses have as many as 75 women in each class paying dues, whether they live in the house or not. It is ridiculous that some houses charge exorbitant amounts of money, for people who live in the house and those who have moved out/freshmen. If they have to overcharge just to stay financially viable, that tells you something, and it's not good. In many cases it tells you that a lot of people drop and they don't have nearly as many members as the better houses. If you are considering joining one of those houses with extremely high dues, think twice. You can do better.
