If I were an incoming freshman considering going through rush, I would pay close attention to the dues. Some of the top sororities on campus with the prettiest houses have some of the lowest dues. As was mentioned before, that's because the have superior support from their alums and their national. They also are wealthy enough that they don't nickel and dime their members every time an improvement is needed to the house. They have the cash on hand to pay for it. Frankly, some of the houses with the highest dues just aren't worth it. And if incoming members are footing most of the bill, that also tells you the sorority is not on very strong financial footing.
