I'll leave sorority names out of this but give you my example of why I placed a "top tier house" in my bottom three on the first round of cuts. A girl I knew in high school was in this particular house and for the entire year before I came to Mizzou she would complain about how awful her sisters were to her, how fake they were, how mean they were. Nothing but awful complaints. Then I go through formal recruitment and not only do I find out that the girl I went to high school with is roommates with one of these awful girls, but I'm fed some lies about how they all love each other and get along so well when in reality I've heard nothing but catty drama from them. I didn't feel comfortable in that house and knew that, while I didn't want to be in a bottom tier house, I also didn't want to be in this certain top tier house. So my first round cuts were two bottom tier and one top tier. I ended up in my legacy house. So no, it's not always as simple as jealousy. Please subdue your narcissism and realize that not every amazingly hot girl wants to be in a hot girl house. Some of them might feel more comfortable in a middle tier house centered around sisterhood. She might be a legacy to a bottom tier house and want to pledge them for that reason.
