I think it all depends on the high school. My baccalaureate school didn't hand out A's like candy. A 3.1-3.3 actually was a pretty good gpa, and 96% of us went on to four-year colleges -- including many Ivy League schools. I had a 3.2, but a 34 on my ACTs and a 1320 on my SATs. But then I'm from out of state. Having been behind the scenes during recruitment the last two years I have seen girls with 3.8 and 3.9 gpas and 25 on their ACTs, which tells us that their A's meant nothing and that they would be grade risks. GPA is not really indicative of much at all.
