I went to a small private school in New England and was barely in the top half of my class, in part because 100% of my graduating class went on to four-year colleges, most of them in the northeast and many of them selective private schools. But I had a 33 ACT, all IB classes my senior year that allowed me to enter Mizzou as a soph, lots of leadership positions and was direct admitted to the J-School. I went back to the houses that are known for grade cuts in wound up joining one. So I think they do their due diligence before cutting just on grades alone. I will see how it's done now that I am on the other side of recruitment. Good luck to all!
