Here's the secret to recruitment. The top houses are the top houses because they are extremely selective and have high standards. They know exactly what they are looking for, and get it. A music major for skits or singing competitions? Yup. A couple of athletic stars for intramurals? Got 'em. A beauty or two who can be queen candidates? Sure. Oh, and by the way they all have to be AP Scholars, be attractive and have engaging personalities. The middle houses get many of the girls they want/need, but often lose out to some of the top houses. And the rest of the sororities get what's left, assuming the girls haven't quit because they were rejected by their dream houses. That, in a nutshell, is how it works. But because most of the girls who go through rush have something special to offer and are pretty great, most sororities wind up with some terrific girls and every single house offers the potential for lifelong friendship (unless it is one of those few houses with SERIOUS retention issues). So give it a try. You might not be asked back to the top houses, but you can still find a place where you can be extremely happy. What have you got to lose?
